about me
I am Ryan Garza
I am a Marine Corps veteran. During my 4th tour in Afghanistan, we hit an IED and it inevitably led to my right leg being amputated. I spent 13 months in the hospital before my leg had to finally be removed. My mental health went downhill and during this time I lost a friend to suicide. I decided to take control of my life. I began to write my book Disturbed Earth - Journey from Guilt to Forgiveness (which comes out October 2021) and I climbed a 14er in Colorado 5 months after my leg was removed. Since then I have been scuba diving, surfing, snowboarding, and have been in several events. My goal is to help others with my story of how I have overcome guilt and found ways to ease depression through outdoor activities. This is my story.

finding your way through
You CAN make it. You CAN do this. For a long time, I drank heavily after my injury and treated everyone terribly. I was depressed and had a hard time with every day life. I was able to turn it around and continue forward. It is not always easy, but it can be done. I hope my story can help others to see that they can make it too.
